The iPhone camera is perhaps one of the most ironic features of the iPhone, Apple’s recently introduced smartphone product. But before we start talking about the iPhone camera, and the other ironies in it, let’s get to know just who the iPhone is.
The iPhone is basically a 2.75G class, quad-band GSM mobile phone which boasts text messaging, email reading and sending, and web browsing as its primary communications features. It comes with an integraged 2.0 megapixel, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity functions, enhancing its web browsing features. The two model types of the iPhone are determined by their file storage sizes, which are respectively 4 gigabytes and 8 gigs. It perfectly stands as an iPod alternative, as it is capable of playing compressed audio files. It also supports video files, making it another impressive portable video file player. It boasts an impressive 250 hours worth of standby battery life, 7 hours of video file viewing, 6 hours of internet browsing, 24 hours of audio playing and 8 hours of talktime. It utilizes an optimized version of the Mac OS X operating system, which takes up about 700 megabytes of file storage space. The iPhone features a truly impressive touch screen system, utilizing a virtual keypad as its main “mobile phone” input system.
Impressed? It wouldn’t be surprising if you are. But, as mentioned earlier, there are certain ironies with the iPhone, which are bound to make you consider things before getting off to buying an iPhone for yourself. Let’s talk about these ironies, starting with the iPhone camera.
The iPhone camera is impressive for its camera class. Perfect for taking still images, the ironic thing about it is that it doesn’t support video recording, even with such a large memory space. The iPhone camera isn’t exactly what many users would want to have. Consider the fact that its space is so large, yet it cannot record any video clips.
Another irony about the iPhone involves its ringtones. Though one could easily store hundreds of mp3 files, one cannot use them as ringtones. Another annoying irony. The iPhone has web browsing features, but has limited Flash support. As most websites nowadays utilize Flash elements in their websites, this limited Flash support, hinders many web browsers from fully enjoying their internet experience.
But the most ironic thing about the iPhone, which many iPhone users have started “ranting” about, is the fact that it needs an iTunes installed computer to successfully function, in terms of synchronization related issues.
Indeed, for a phone with such features, ironies like the iPhone camera should be considered before one goes out of his/her way to get one.
